STOCKTON rider Millie Allen helped her team take a gold medal at the FEI Children, Junior and Young Rider European Jumping Championships at Arezzo in Italy.

The GB team were in joint first position going into the final day of competition on four penalties alongside the Netherlands and The Team Fairfax Juniors took victory after adding zero penalties to their overnight score. The Netherlands were however tough opponents for the Brits and forced them to jump off for the gold medal; but the team held their nerve and again added nothing to their score. The Netherlands retired from the jump off.

Millie, on Senator International’s 12-year-old bay gelding Senator Cantino II followed an uncharacteristic four-penalty round a day previous to put in a foot-perfect clear round to help the British team to victory.

Meanwhile, sister Pippa, 20, qualified for the Horse of the Year show with a second-placed finish at the The Scottish Summer Extravaganza Show at the Royal Highland Showground recently.

Two direct qualifying tickets for the Horse & Hound Senior Foxhunter Championship Final at the Horse of the Year Show were up for grabs, and she took a place with Grenoble 46, an eight-yearold grey mare owned by her father Peter. Allen and Grenoble 46 matched their second place from the previous day in EquestrianClearance.com Senior Newcomers Second Round. The combination also took second in this class after registering the fastest four fault round. Their time was 69.35 seconds. The Horse of the Year Show 2014 will take place October 8-12 at the Birmingham NEC.
