EX-RACEHORSE, Fli Mi Son bred by Jackie Sawney of Seamer near Stokesley and now owned by Liz Kettle of Mickleby near Whitbywent totheNationalSideSaddleChampionships at Addington Manor in Bucks at the weekend and covered himself in glory.

Fli Mi Son who only started being ridden side saddle this spring excelled himself and has now qualified for the prestigious iPura Ladies Show Horse Championships in September at the British Show Horse Championships.

Ridden by Susan Perkins of Redcar, Sonnyasheisaffectionatelyknownwas foot perfect in the Large Riding Horse class to qualify at his first attempt.

Throughout the three-day show where all horses must compete under Side Saddle, Sonny was placed in all his six competitions finishing fifth in his first side saddle dressage competition when ridden by Susan Perkins. Liz was second of 18 in the Historical Costume class when replicating the famous Stubbs painting of the Countess of Conningsby.

When trained by the Walford family of Sherriff Hutton, Sonny was the Yorkshire homebred Point to point champion in 2008- 2009 season and is now enjoying his new career as a show horse.
