FOLLOWING hard on the heels of a successful charity trial in Farndale, Hull AC ran the Jack Howden Trophy Charity Trial, incorporating the East Yorks Centre Championship and Inter Club Team Trial.

A massive entry of 124 riders converged on the fantastic Hill House venue to ride two nine mile laps of 25 sections plotted by the hard working crew of the club. All proceeds raised were for the local communities.

Northallerton’s Guy Kendrew was in terrific form to win by ten marks from Yarm`s Tom Affleck and York’s Tom Hick.

Leavening’s Adam Milner only got it together after a poor first lap stung him. Hutton le Hole’s Tom Wood won Intermediate, to head Jon Taylor and John Benton home and Scarborough’s Alan Carr edged out riding mate York’s Mark Coulson to win Clubman A. Scarborough’s Callum Williamson, riding an Ossa, helped Guisborough D.M.C. lift the team award with Eboracum M.C. second and Guisborough Two third.

Yarm Sherco rider Tom Affleck was in fine form on a gloriously sunny Saturday night to win the fourth and final round of Guisborough club’s Summer Trials from Guisborough’s all rounder Jonathon Taylor. Held at the popular Skelder Farm, Affleck produced an unpenalised ride to hold off the strong challenge from Taylor, Taylor losing his three marks on the first two sections In the Intermediate class Guisborough’s Paul Wheatley lost out as Danby’s Andy Jackson produced a cracking ride to win.

It proved tight in Clubman classes as Whitby’s Mike Noble and Scarborough’s Alan Carr could not be split in As, edging motocross rider Stevie Hind into third and Middlesbrough’s Phil Manton and Glaisdale’s Andrew Dale kept a clean sheet to head Class B.

Weardale Motor Club held their latest Saturday Afternoon Trial last weekend at Dursand Quarry, near Stanhope in County Durham.

Thirty-four riders had a choice of Clubman, Easy or Very Easy sections to choose from. Colin Ward cleaned the Clubman Route, but had to share the win with son Travis and Dale Whittaker, while John Bennett missed out after a couple of dabs spoilt his day. Gary Bloodworth did likewise on the Easy Course with a faultless ride, but Rob Lowery pushed him all the way until an errant two in section nine cost him his chance.
