THIRSK FALCONS are celebrating again after a second successful year in the Teesside Football League after taking a league and cup double victory After winning Division Two, they beat Loftus Athletic in the final of the Teesside Football League’s Alex Burness Plate a fortnight ago.

In a game largely dominated by the Falcons both teams made numerous attempts at goal and there were several near misses at both ends.

James Robson opened the scoring from outside the area, a lead they preserved until half-time.

Stuart Rose beat the Loftus defence Gareth Barber’s goal put the gloss on victory.

David Marsden, secretary the Teesside Football League, handed David Young, captain of Thirsk Falcons the Alex Burness Plate, and the runners’ up trophy was given to Loftus Athletics’ captain, Kevin Devereux.
