THIRSK DMC’s Long Plain Farm venue, in Hambleton, proved at its most difficult on Sunday after heavy overnight rain added extra bite to the four lap, ten section course, and it was Beta rider Adam Milner who grabbed the win from James Carr over a four lap, ten section course.

The event included a round of the Adult Clubman and Youth East York Championship and with a dull, overcast sky threatening more rain, most riders got a move on. Milner and Carr were well matched throughout, but it wasn’t until Milner produced a little bit of magic at the eighth, cleaning every lap that gave him the lead. This left Carr – first time out on the new AM Jotagas – on a loss of 11 and with it his chance of the win.

DARLINGTON AMCA club headed for Grinton and Haggs Gill on Sunday where 90 riders enjoyed a two lap, 17-section laid out by Neil Metcalfe and his assistants Trevor Willans and Nigel Cummins. The latter plotted the sections nursing broken ribs that were a painful legacy of the previous weekend.

Only five dropped out, one caused by mechanical mayhem.

With 17 sections on the agenda, it was inevitable that there would be a shortfall, and there was. Three were unmanned, so it was self marking. Tom Hick travelled from York to head the Experts with North East Centre’s Colin Ward and Team Aitken in the thick, plus Dale Watkins junior who made off with Clubman class. Teenager Dan Peace put in the ace ride, dropping a dozen marks to win the Youth class A class from brother Jack.

IT was wet and wild a week gone Sunday, but it didn’t deter 68 entrants for the Stanley Club’s trial at Rogerley Quarry, near Stanhope, in County Durham, who along with the ten observers endured some awful conditions throughout the day.

On the Expert course the winner was Michael Phillipson (Ossa). On the Clubman route, Steven Johnson took his Montesa round for five, followed by Louis Grey (Sherco) and rapidly improving Bobby Clark (Ossa) on six. Derek Bartle (Beta) finished top man on the Easy course with just one single mark to his name, dropped on section four. Paul Martin (Montesa) finished behind the winner on 14, with Andrew Black (BSA) a further seven down.

THE Parkwood offroad motor sport leisure complex, at Tong, Bradford, featured a head-to- head battle between 12 leading motorcycle trials sport clubs in the county on Sunday.

Spen Valley Motor Cycle Club staged the annual Yorkshire Centre Inter-Club team trial at the Tong venue plus a qualifying round of the Class A-B and C Youth Championship series.

Paul Hobson and his assistants plotted the 14-section course. The expert classes predictably was won by Yeadon- Guiseley club’s trio of Jack Price, Martin Crosswaite and Liam Walker who headed Richmond’s John Sunter, Gavin Lowther and Rob Waite by eight points.

Price, 16, rode every section without penalty. The winning club also fielded the third placed team of Sam Yeadon, Joe Jennings and Sam Beecroft-Penny. Centre champion Sam Yeadon led the charge.

Huddersfield Falcons scooped the novice team prize thanks to Andrew Jackson, Martin Beardsall and Anthony Cooper.

A total of 110 riders took part in the trial out of which 31 teams represented 11 Yorkshire clubs.
