WITH leaders Unicorn FC not in action last Saturday, Hawes United had the chance to go back to the top with victory over visitors Reeth. Steve Calvert gave the hosts a 22nd minute lead but it was two goals in three minutes just before the break – from Calvert and Jonathon Champion – that sealed the points. Jordan Iveson then made it 4-0 on the hour before substitute Daniel Richardson completed a comfortable 5-0 success, and a place at the top, in the dying moments.

Colburn Town jumped to third as they increased their unbeaten run to 19 matches in all competitions with a 4-0 victory over Spennithorne and Harmby. A goal from Tom Sweeney was all that separated the sides at the break but the prolific striker added two more soon after the restart to complete his hat-trick – his 32nd, 33rd and 34th goals of the season.

Nige Cole then sealed the points in the closing stages.

Colburn now trail the leaders by seven points, having played a game more.

Richmond Mavericks Reserves was in the goals as they won 10-1 at Askrigg United. Dave Andrews opened the scoring midway through the first half while Mickey Sartini and Darren Matthews sealed the points before the break. Matthew Bromirskyj, Sartini and Mark Cleminson then added to the Askrigg misery before Matthews scored twice more to complete his hat-trick.

Carl Tate then added a late brace to bring up double figures.

George Handley scored the late Askrigg consolation.

In the outstanding Dales Cup tie, Three Coopers, Bedale, from the Harrogate League, beat Richmond Buck Inn 6-0. After an early goal from Jack Reynard, the tie was all about Ross Hodgson, who struck twice in each half. Adrian Woodward was also on target as Coopers eased through to a quarter-final meeting with Richmond Mavericks Reserves.
