THE wet weather last Sunday put paid to the entire fixture list in both Division One and Division Two, although Henleys Athletic’s North Riding Challenge Cup fourth round at Acklam Park did go ahead.

After a slow start as they struggled to adjust to the artificial surface, during which time the hosts ran into a 2-0 lead, Henleys settled and were level by the break thanks to goals from Tom Keegan and Andrew Shepherd.

Keegan scored again soon after the restart while late strikes from Shaun Nolan and Andrew Allan sealed a 5-2 victory and a place in the last eight.

Division Three leaders Brompton FC remain five points clear at the top after a 5-1 win at County Arms.

An own goal gave Brompton the early advantage while further efforts from Luke Toman, James Marriott, Dan Caisley and James Horsfield sealed the points. Martin Larkin scored the County consolation.

Bar One remain second, although they were made to fight all the way for a thrilling 5-4 victory at Vale of York.

Bar looked comfortable by the break as a brace from Ben Wood and strikes from Lee Manamley, and Dave Smith – his first ever goal – gave them a 4-1 advantage. Vale pulled one back soon after the restart but the points appeared to be sealed when Paul Humphreys made it 5-2 on the hour.

However, Vale scored twice more in the final 20 minutes to set up a tense finale, although Bar held on for all three points.

Knayton are third after thrashing Jolly Minister 8-1.

John Henry gave Knayton an early lead but it was a brace either side of the break from Chris Cowton that finally gave them the edge.

James Clark added a fourth before Sam Reyner, Cowton, to complete his hat-trick, Andrew Parkinson and Matt Fishburn rounded off the scoring in the final quarter of an hour.

The only other game to beat the weather was at Masons Arms, who thrashed bottom side Northern Dons 9-3.

Dave Tennant was in unstoppable form as he struck seven times, while Mark Fowler and Stephen grant completed the scoring. Anthony Foster, Sean Wilson and an own goal gave Dons some consolation in the second half.
