UNICORN FC are in top spot over Christmas despite losing 2-1 at home to second-placed Hawes United last Saturday.

Steve Calvert lobbed Hawes ahead midway the through the first half then doubled their lead 20 minutes from time when Wilf Dinsdalerouned the goalkeeper to slot home.

Unicorn set up a tense finale when Paul Brown scored five minutes from time and it took a superb last-ditch block from Brett Calvert to ensure Hawes held on.

First half goals from John Bishton and Mickey White gave Richmond Buck Inn a 2-0 home win over bottom side Richmond Town Academy.

Spennithorne and Harmby are fourth after thrashing Carperby Rovers 8-0. The match was over inside 20 minutes as Ian Clarkson, Jack Crook and Martin Dixon made it 3-0, while Adam Dinsdale added a fourth before the break. Scott Greenway, Jake Gamble-Schofield, Joe Dickens and Dinsdale then completed the rout.

Richmond Mavericks beat struggling Catterick Rovers 5-1. Phil Stirling and Dave Andrews both scored twice, while Mickey Sartini sealed the points. Jamie Dempster grabbed the Rovers goal.

Colburn Town won 4-2 at Catterick Garrison Football Centre. The hosts led twice through Jez Mortimer and Neil Wright but Colburn were level at the break thanks to goals from Stu Murray and Luke McCormack. Murray then went on to complete his hattrick in the second half.

Askrigg United move above Reeth after beating them 4-2 with goals from Richard Sunter (2), Gary Cockeril and Matthew Hammond. Reeth replied through Steven Fleming and Daniel Cassidy.
