DIVISION ONE leaders Henleys Athletic moved six points clear at the top last Sunday after a 7-3 home victory over Travaux FC.

A shock looked on the cards when goals from Dan Morris, Kai Priestly and Liam Ryan saw the struggling visitors lead 3-2 at the break but a brace apiece from Tom Keegan and Andrew Allen and further efforts from Andrew Shepherd, Chris James and Josh Knox gave the leaders the points.

Sportsmans FC saw their title hopes take a knock with a 3-1 defeat at Robert Thompsons.

Stu Rose and Ryan McKendry put Thompsons in control before the break while a second half Chris Moores free kick sealed the points. Sporties are now ten points off the top but with three games in hand.

At the bottom of the table, Northallerton WMC remain in trouble after a 6-3 home defeat to Kildale. Jon Boal gave Kildale an early lead but Ryan Elders brought the Workies level soon after.

Sam Sonley and Wayne Stephenson scored either side of the break to put the visitors in control but Wayne Thompson reduced the arrears soon after.

Thomas Nichols, Stephenson again and Stephen Pennock then sealed the points before a bullet header from Johnny Craven gave the Workies some late consolation.

There was a real shock at the top of Division Two as leaders West Tanfield were surprisingly thrashed 9-1 by Three Coopers.

Leon Roberts was the tormenter- in-chief with a fivegoal salvo, while Stu Adams, with a brace, Johnny Reyner and an own goal completed the rout. A Duncan Terry penalty was scant consolation for the leaders who will be hoping this was just a blip.

Brompton on Swale are now just a point off the top with a game in hand after a late 4-2 win at Osmotherley FC.

A penalty from Steve Scott gave Brompton an early lead but Elliott Hollis and an overhead kick from Phil Hindson saw Osmotherley ahead by the break.

Ali Logan equalised ten minutes after the restart and that was the way it stayed until the final six minutes.

Then, with time running out, Brompton pushed defender Gary Nicholson up front and it paid off as Nicholson scored twice in the closing stages to give Brompton the victory they needed to keep the pressure on the leaders.

Osmotherley Rangers moved away from the relegation zone with a 3-1 win at fellow-strugglers Golden Lion, Romanby.

The hosts knew a win would lift them above Rangers on goal difference but early goals from Sam Bailey and Andy Ramson put Rangers in control before Marcus Pearson sealed the points in the closing stages. Gareth Sargent scored a late Lion consolation.

Division Three leaders Brompton FC go into 2014 with an eight-point advantage at the top after they won 3-1 at Masham.

Sam Gill scored for the hosts but goals from Craig Johnston, Ryan Wilson and Dan Caisley gave Brompton another three points.

Bar One remain second after a 3-2 home success against GLR Romanby.

Paul Humphreys, Andy Anderson and Ben Wood looked to have sealed a comfortable Bar victory but an Andrew Sowerby penalty and a strike from Joshua McCabe set up a tense finale.

Knayton remain third after a 6-1 victory over struggling Masons Arms.

Rob Cowton, John Martin and Sam Rayner put Knayton in control by the break, while Martin Kendall, John Henry and Matt Fishburn completed the scoring in the second half. Dave Tennant grabbed the Masons’ consolation.

Farmers Arms jumped above The Standard into the top four after beating them 3-2.

A brace from Ed Codd and an own goal, all before the break, looked to have given the Farmers the points, but after Mike Cooper had missed a penalty for The Standard, Dan Kilvington and Malcolm Heron put them right back in the match. However, the Farmers held on.

County Arms beat Vale of York 7-2 thanks to four goals from Chris Foster and three from Brad King, while Jolly Minister beat bottom side Northern Dons 3-1.

Jordan Porter and Jake Doherty twice put the Minister ahead in the first half, either side of a Mark Cherryholme goal for the Dons, while Lee Elsworth, who had created the two earlier strikes, got the third himself in the second half to seal the points.
