NORTHALLERTON TOWN were denied the chance to go second in the table last Saturday after their match at Tow Law Town was postponed due to a frozen pitch.

Despite temperatures reaching double figures in many parts of County Durham, Tow Law, the second highest ground above sea level in the country, remained frozen leaving Town frustrated.

With other results going their way, victory at the Lawyers, who had won just three of their previous 12 matches, would have seen Town jump up to second, ahead of Heaton Stannington on goal difference.

Town now turn their attention to the visit of Alnwick Town tomorrow afternoon.

The Northumbrians, currently 18th in the table, beat Peter Mulcaster’s side 1-0 back in August in a match Town had dominated, so revenge will be the order of the day.

Town should give a debut in goal to new signing James Howarth, signed last week from Bishop Auckland, while fellow new arrival Richard Dacombe, who joined from Billingham Town, could also be included in the squad.

Elsewhere, Town could be at full strength for the first time in a few weeks as Andrew Porritt is expected to return after missing the last three matches due to a holiday in America, while Mike Colman is back from suspension. Christian Holliday is the only doubt as he recovers from a groin injury.

Kick off is at the Calvert Stadium is 3pm with entry £5 for adults and £1 for children. As it is the last home match before Christmas, Town are drawing the Christmas raffle at half time.

First prize is £150 cash and there are lots of other prizes up for grabs too.

Tickets cost £1 for a book of 5 and will be available to buy at the ground before kick off and during the first half.
