Match report: Middlesbrough 1 Blackpool 1
MARVIN EMNES emerged from the bench to spare Middlesbrough's blushes on a day of frustration at the Riverside Stadium.
The Dutch striker, who was introduced to add greater attacking threat in the second half, was on hand in the penalty area in stoppage time to slot in the finish that secured Boro a point against Blackpool.
Middlesbrough had struggled to create chances all afternoon and Blackpool looked as if they had made them pay when they took the lead seven minutes before time.
Chris Basham was in the right place to direct a loose ball after Barry Ferguson's free-kick had been blocked beyond full Championship debutant Jayson Leutwiler's line.
But when Middlesbrough looked like losing their second of three league games this season, Emnes was there to finish when Albert Adomah's delivery was not dealt with by the visiting defence.
Another scare for Middlesbrough which highlights Tony Mowbray still has plenty of work to do – but a different attacking option would help.
