Hockey: Opportunity to ‘pick up a stick’
2:31pm Friday 25th January 2013 in Sport
HOCKEY lovers are being encouraged to pick up a stick once again when a new Durham County Council-run session begins.
“Back to hockey” is aimed at anyone new to the sport, keen to give it a try or those who have played it before and are wanting to play again.
Sessions will take place at Teesdale Leisure Centre, in Barnard Castle, on Mondays, from Monday, February 4, 6.30pm to 7.30pm, and will cost £3 per session.
George Richardson, senior sport and physical activity officer with Durham County Council, said: “Hockey is a great team sport which is lots of fun for people at all levels.
“These sessions are a great way to meet new people and get fit while having fun at the same time, and the best thing is it’s only £3, so why not give it a go.”
To book a place, call the leisure centre on 03000-260- 862/3. Payment is due at the time of booking.
