Darlington sign Gateshead forward

Darlington have made their second signing of the week after bringing in a striker on loan from Gateshead.

Michael Sweet has joined on loan in time to make his debut against Durham City tomorrow.

The Darlington-born teenager is Martin Gray’s second addition of the week as on Tuesday he signed Mark Bell from West Auckland.

Durham have also signed a striker from Gateshead today, bringing in Peter Ravenhill on loan for a month from the International Stadium.

No disrespect to Micheal Sweet, but who is he. I would bet money that he is not in the same class as Shaun Reay, what is going on here. There are no references to Micheal Sweet on the Gateshead FC web site, so he must only be an outer fringe player up there.

what does it say for the players already playing for Darlo and won-t get a game now....turning into a joke....bad players in for good players already there....
something strange going on here....looks like Darlo will still be paying northern league for a few more years...

It was not my intention to bad mouth darlo, so if you wish to do that please dont do it off my back. I posted my comment because I am a big fan of Shaun Reay and Steven Johnson and want to see them both back in the team ASAP, along with Arjun Purewal. To me darlo will never be a joke.

It's typical of some of the numpties who post on this site, that they can't understand constructive criticisim or indeed, a sensible, rational comment that your good self made. Likewise, I have not heard of Michael Sweet, but Martin Gray obviously has and rates him highly enough to sign him, so that's good enough for me. Agree with your comments about Johnson and Reay, we've just had a slight blip at the moment but there is still over half the season to go.

Johnson has been and still is injured.

Sweet is a Darlo lad by the way.

Don't comment on a new player until you have seen him play, Michael sweet is rated very highly amongst several clubs he has achieved great things at under 18 level and scored plenty of goals . He has had trials with Leeds and Bolton recently and was playing for Gateshead reserves whilst at Gateshead college. What bigger incentive to prove yourself than playing for your home town club.

Young Sweety will surprise a lot of people, he's fast and strong and knows where the goal is and has scored goals for fun for England schoolboys. Doing the same course in Gateshead as Dan Burn did ! He'll offer much more than Shaun Reay I bet ! Yes Reay has scored some goals and puts a decent penalty away , but his all round game is poor ! Oh and Darlo Iti' shame about "square ball back pass Hollywood ball to nothing" leaving eh ? NOT ;-) !

Based on the above comments by StanWebbGhost I look forward to seeing how Micheal Sweet performs. Like I said it my first comment I did not intend the lad any disrespect, but prior to yesterday I had never heard of him.
