IN all the discussion about the future of the two mental health wards at the Friarage Hospital, I cannot remember any of those expressing concern raising the obvious argument: that our NHS simply does not have enough money. Has anyone read the local CCG’s last annual report?

It is peppered with references to the financial constraints facing our local NHS. I find it extraordinary to read of the concern expressed by the Tory leader of North Yorkshire County Council and our Tory MP when neither of them is brave enough to admit the national NHS’s serious financial plight.

Please stop and think before always blaming our local NHS.

Instead, shouldn’t we all be questioning our Tory elected representatives about what pressure they are bringing to bear to resolve the NHS’s serious financial crisis?
