THE Pease statue on High Row, at the library entrance and in the West Cemetery serve as a reminder of the huge debt Darlington owes to this family.

Their legacy includes the railway, the library, Feethams cricket ground, South Park, West Cemetery and the excavation of the River Skerne which eliminated town centre floods.

Sadly, Darlington’s current Labour leaders have decided to give the town a negative legacy by removing or downgrading many of our facilities including the library, the arts centre, the indoor market, the dog show and the market on the town square etc. but happily incurring huge debts on several new projects for repayment by future generations.

Our leaders appear to be proud of their achievements and therefore to remind the future generations, it is only right that another statue or plaque should soon be erected in the town listing the names of all those politicians who voted during the past 20 years to destroy Darlington’s proud heritage.
