Sir, – Thirsk Clock is now settling into our new premises in St James’ Hall, on St James’ Green, Thirsk.

We were sorry to leave the Market Place where we felt very much part of the community.

However, we are delighted with our new premises which offer a more suitable environment.

We would like to thank many people; in particular the people of St James’ Methodist Chapel who so very kindly offered us their hospitality and support when we were in need of new premises. To the army who helped us move the heavy equipment, to ITV fixers for their support and the very good DVD they produced. The list continues.

There are so many people and organisations that have helped us since we started nearly seven years ago; these include North Yorkshire County Council, Hambleton District Council, Thirsk Town Council and Sowerby Parish Council, Thirsk School, Thirsk Market Town Initiative, Yorkshire Forward, the Police and local churches.

Their financial help is very much appreciated and their continuing support is essential.

These and other organisations which include Broadacres Housing, Thirsk School and Alanbrooke Barracks are partners in our work.

Alongside all these bodies the very important part that local people have played has been and is most gratifying, their continual encouragement and positive attitude has helped us maintain our commitment to the young people of Thirsk and the surrounding area. There is now a Friends of Thirsk group and if you wish to join contact 01845-524494 for information.

Most important is our thanks to the staff who have weathered a difficult time including the uncertainty of their base. They willing gave of their time, worked in poor conditions while the hall was being upgraded and their painting skills have certainly been enhanced.

We look forward to carrying out our work in providing a safe environment where young people can meet, providing activities for them to enjoy and professional advice and support when necessary.
