Sir, – Voter, voter in the booth, who is fairest of them all? Only Labour. Fairy tales are really messages for adults. More voters are reflecting on their vote than ever before, creating a stronger democratic context.

Constituents I meet on the doorsteps recognise how a Labour MP in our constituency would be a “Vote for Change”.

As we discuss fairness, many see Labour’s guarantees of one week to see a cancer specialist and everyone to be seen in hospital in less than 18 weeks, as profound social justice.

When constituents realise the Tories refuse to give these guarantees, they are frightened and anxious. Opposition parties referring to Labour’s improvements in the NHS as nanny state are a deep insult to the great majority of ill people who are totally dependent on it.

Giving young people and young families more opportunity to stay in their communities has been, and will continue as, one of our priorities. We want British farming to be profitable and competitive and to continue helping farmers to produce more food, nurturing our countryside and biodiversity. Perhaps the Labour Government has been a metaphor for a fairy godmother in the gift of 3,600 Sure Start centres, which help parents and young children to flourish. I wish I had space to recount how these small buildings contain many human stories of support and learning good parenting. The Tories say they will only keep Sure Start open in deprived areas, so our constituents will suffer.

Voter, voter in the booth, choose the only party that will grant your wishes of a Britain where fairness is delivered to all.

Not the superficial fairness of glamour, but the fairness of social justice in Labour policies.
