Stamp of approval for cathedral designs
A HUSTHWAITE man is celebrating as his designs for a new set of stamps are about to be revealed.
Graphic designer Howard Brown's first set of designs, for postage stamps to mark the bicentenary of the abolition of the slave trade, were issued last year.
Now, after several months of research and frequent revisions, his designs for the next set of Royal Mail special stamps showing six cathedrals around the United Kingdom have been accepted.
Due for release on Tuesday, the stamps show interior shots printed in black and grey to provide an ethereal monotone of six cathedrals - Lichfield, Gloucester, Westminster, St David's, Belfast and St Magnus.
In addition, a special collector's presentation pack, which has to be pre-ordered, features a coloured picture of St Paul's Cathedral quartered into four stamps.
