After the wintry washout over the Easter weekend, England and Wales will be much milder on Tuesday, with plenty of sunshine and temperatures hitting 15C (59F) in the south in the afternoon.
In Scotland however, the cold air remains, and there are snow warnings in place across Glasgow and Edinburgh, extending to the north of the country.
In Northern Ireland, the rain will be widespread and heavy, with travel disruption expected on roads and the rail networks.
Major train network improvement in the Bristol Temple Meads area will continue meaning that trains will not run to, from or via the station until the end of service on Tuesday night.
Elsewhere, there is not expected to be disruption on the trains or roads as commuters return to work.
The Easter weekend saw torrential rain and snow across large parts of the UK, with 10cm falling in northern areas, and around 20 flood warnings in place around the country.
Football games in Nottingham, Bradford, Doncaster, Scunthorpe, Chesterfield and Morecambe were postponed due to the inclement weather.
At the races, Chepstow, Fakenham, Market Rasen, Huntingdon, Redcar and Plumpton were all abandoned on Monday due to waterlogging and Lingfield is set to be the only racecourse to be open on Tuesday.
In rugby league, Dewsbury Rams v Halifax was also called off.
Later on this week, scattered showers are expected on Wednesday, while Thursday is set to be mostly dry.
