Families of over 90 pupils at Durham Free School are now faced with finding new places for their children following the announcement that the school is to close. These are the options available to parents.

St Leonard’s Catholic School (73%)
1,400 pupils aged 11-18.   Voluntary aided.  Rated as good by Ofsted but currently full.

Durham Johnston School (72%)
Rated as outstanding by Ofsted. 1,500 students aged 11-18. Very popular and probably full.

Framwellgate School,  Durham City (70%)
Around 1,200  students aged 11-18.  Rated as good by Ofsted with outstanding features.

Belmont Community School, Durham City (66%)
For pupils aged 11-16.  Rated as good by Ofsted.

Whitworth Park School and Sixth Form College, Spennymoor (51%)
Recently refurbished. Rated as good.
