THOUSANDS of teenagers across the region will find out their all-important A-level results tomorrow (Thursday) morning and you will be able to catch up with them by visiting our special live blog.

Last year’s results bucked the national trends by showing an increase in the proportion of students in the North-East and Yorkshire scoring top grades.

An analysis of more than 300,000 results last summer showed that across England the proportion of A-levels awarded an A or A* fell for the second year in a row.

But in our region North-East and Yorkshire students saw an increase in the proportion of A and A* grades.

Last year’s A-level results were hailed as a positive for the region – indicating that the gap between the four best performing regions (all in the South) and the four worst performing regions (all in the North) is closing.

Nobody knows what this year’s crop of A-results has in store but from tomorrow morning the Northern Echo will be publishing pass rates and outstanding individual success stories from across the region in a special live blog on our website featuring a selection of pictures of students celebrating their exam success.

Friday’s Northern Echo will include a round-up of A-results with some of the highlights from around the region.

And on Wednesday August 20th the Northern Echo will publish a more detailed guide to this year’s A-level results which will include the details for individual students.
