RESIDENTS are being urged to find out if they can benefit from lower energy bills by taking advantage of a council partnership.

Ryedale District Council is supporting a scheme with iChoosr – which runs energy switching schemes across the country to make it easy for people to consider switching gas and electric providers and save money.

Households can register their interest in the scheme for free between now and Monday, February 2, after which iChoosr will gather everyone’s registrations together and invite energy companies to offer their best prices for energy to everyone in the scheme.

Neither the council nor iChoosr can guarantee residents will save money - some households may already be on the best value tariff.

For registration people will need a recent energy bill or annual statement based on actual meter readings rather than estimates, and to know which company they pay bills to.
