PEOPLE campaigning against plans to build more than 200 homes in a North Yorkshire market town warn it fails to tackle a lack of affordable homes in the area.
The plans involve building up to 210 homes and 50 apartments for older people at Westfields in Kirkbymoorside, near Helmsley in Ryedale.
The proposal, for outline planning permission, is due to go before a planning inspector in September for non-determination of the application, although Ryedale District Council is due to decide on the plans next week.
A report by Ryedale District Council planning officers recommends the plans are refused on the grounds it lacks the required amount of affordable housing.
So far 93 people have objected to the proposal, over fears the development is too large, it will create a precedent for other large developments in the area and that it lacks enough affordable homes.
