AN exhibition showcasing the work of eight North-East artists has been unveiled at Mima gallery of modern art in Middlesbrough.

Some works have been created especially for the ‘Chance find us’ display including two new paintings by Rachael Clewlow which show her travels through the local landscape in a series of walks offering a different vision of Teesside’s geography.

“This exhibition is a fantastic opportunity to highlight the wealth of talent and the calibre of artistic thinking that is present in the North-East. Mima is delighted to be working with and showing the work of the artists involved.

“For some of them this is their first show and we are proud to have supported the group in the years leading to this point,” said Mima curator, Alix Collingwood.

The artist-led project which also features works by Sarah Bray, Peter J Evans, James Hugonin, Nick Kennedy, Anne Vibeke Mou and Richard Rigg has secured additional funding from Arts Council England’s Grants which has led to new projects.

Mr Kennedy has delivered workshops at Cleveland College of Art & Design and Ms Vibeke Mou who has been caving with members from the International Society for Speleological Art in the Yorkshire Dales to create new work which will be revealed at Mima from July 18 onwards.

‘Chance find us’ is on show at Mima in Centre Square, Middlesbrough until September 4.
