White Cross Vets’ Coulby Newham and Redcar branches have been nominated for the ‘Practice of the Year’ award run by pet insurer, PetPlan.

Redcar’s Practice head nurse Allison Hodgson has been nominated for the vet nurse of the year award and the family run company's Justin Phillips was named recently as the Best Young Marketeer at the prestigious Veterinary Marketing Association Awards.

ORIENTEERING FUN: Families with pre-school or primary aged children can sign up to an ‘Xplorer’ event organised by British Orienteering and Hartlepool Borough Council. No map reading experience is needed to take part in the 45-minute challenges taking place on April 17 from 1pm to 3pm at Summerhill Visitors Centre, May 13 from 5.30pm to 7.30pm at the Place in the Park cafe in Ward Jackson Park. Each Xplorer session costs just £4 for a family of four, although both larger and smaller family groups can be catered for too. EASTER FAIR: St Patrick’s Catholic Women’s League is hosting an Easter fair at the Parish Centre in Fairfield, Stockton, this weekend. It will be open from 2pm to 4pm on Saturday and 10.30am to noon on Sunday with a tombola, raffle and bric-a-brac stall.

CRAFT MARKET: A craft fair is taking place at Linthorpe Community Centre, Middlesbrough, on Saturday, from 10am to 3pm with more than 30 stalls. Entry is free with refreshments available.
