RESIDENTS of Hartlepool are being urged to support a bid for cash from a national pot set up to promote grassroots sport and physical activity.

They are being asked to complete a short on-line survey to provide information on what they need to become more active.

Their comments will form a key part of a bid to Sport England’s Community Sports Activation Fund that is being prepared by Hartlepool Council’s sport and physical activity.

The bid aims to secure a share of £15 million worth funding that is available in round three of the Community Sports Activation Fund, which aims to ensure that grassroots activities are provided in communities at a local level.

(CORR)Gemma Ptak, principal recreation officer with Hartlepool Council’s sport and physical activity team, said: “To support our application we would like to gain additional insight into what the local community needs and wants to increase its participation in sport and other physical activity.

“We are keen to hear from both individuals and groups of people, including established sports clubs in the town.”

The survey, which can be accessed at https://surveymonkey.com/s/HBC-sport-2013 closes at midday on Friday, January 10.
