A CAMPAIGN to inspire residents to take more pride in the area they live has received the backing of Hartlepool’s mayor and Cleveland’s Police and Crime Commissioner.

Councillor Stephen Akers-Belcher was joined by Barry Coppinger and a 40 strong team of volunteers in Rift House, where they tackled fly tipping, unruly gardens, and planted trees to give the estate an instant uplift.

The Love Where You Live campaign, which ran over three days, also offered tenancy advice and support on tackling anti-social behaviour; fire safety and a Winter Warmer campaign.

Janis Ledger, neighbourhood manager at Housing Hartlepool, said: “We have now held three successful events which have received fantastic feedback from residents.

"We really want everyone to get involved and realise the role they play in helping to transform the places where they live.”

Councillor Akers-Belcher added: “As well as to all organisations involved, I’d like to personally thank the youngsters from the Rifty Youth Club who did a fantastic job and really worked hard to clean up Rift House estate showing real team work and an enthusiasm to work together.”
