THE organisers of an awards ceremony to honour Hambleton district's sports stars are calling for more nominations.
The Hambleton Sports Awards recognise and support sports performers, coaches and volunteers for their contribution to sport and the recognition they bring to the district.
Awards at the event in October will be presented in nine categories, including junior, adult, disabled, team, school, coach and voluntary contribution over 25 years.
Last year's event saw individuals and teams from Thirsk and Northallerton win the majority of the awards, while the Stokesley-based North Riding Eagles Volleyball Club scooped the adult team title.
A council spokesman said: “We had a really high standard of nominations last year and we hope to see some new faces added to the list this year.
"We urge everyone in Hambleton to get nominating and give our sporting heroes the recognition they deserve.”
Nominations can be made by completing the online nomination form at hambleton.gov.uk/sportsawards or by requesting an application form from 01609-767202.
The deadline for applications is September 30.
