A RISING number of residents are happy with Hambleton District Council’s waste service, a study has found.

Of 4,000 responses to a survey which was delivered to 20,000 households, 95 per cent of people thought the service was either satisfactory or good, representing a four per cent rise on a similar survey in 2010.

The responses showed satisfaction with all levels of the service, including kerbside recycling, bin collections, the courtesy of the staff and the information available online.

Dog fouling and littering were among the issues highlighted by residents.

Councillor Brian Phillips, the authority's cabinet member for environmental and planning services, said: “The survey shows a very high satisfaction rate with the service which we are delighted to hear.

“The areas highlighted as needing more attention are all areas we are looking into, including the need for more kerbside recycling provision.

"Residents want us to collect more plastic and cardboard from their homes and there will be announcement about our future plans in the next few weeks.”
