Man appears at court charged with the murder of Darlington great-grandmother

A MAN has today (Monday, October 22) appeared before magistrates charged with the murder of a 61-year-old great-grandmother from Darlington.

Joseph Turner, 61, is charged with murdering Pamela Glen, also known as Pamela Turner, in her home in the Spring Hill area of the town, on Friday, October 19.

Police were called to the house at 11.50pm after reports of a woman being stabbed. The mother-of-two was taken to James Cook University Hospital in Middlesbrough, where she died from stab wounds at 1.30am.

Mr Turner, of Sanderson Street, Darlington, appeared at Newton Aycliffe Magistrates Court' this morning. He was remanded in custody until Wednesday (October 24) when he will appear at Teesside Crown Court.
