Police name man killed in Sedgefield accident as 19-year-old from Finchale

POLICE have named the 19-year-old man who died in a road traffic collision this morning in Sedgefield.

He was Dominic James Osbourne Scarre from Finchale, Durham, not Stockton as previously thought. Mr Scarre was the passenger of a Peugeot 406. The driver, a 32-year-old woman from Willington was treated for shock.

The driver of a Ford Transit Dropside Tipper, a 27-year-old man from Meadowfield, was arrested on suspicion of causing death by careless driving and has since been bailed pending further enquiries.

Police are still appealing for witnesses to the collision and are asking anyone with information to call police on 101 and ask for the accident unit or call Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
