Man charged over Darlington pub assault

A MAN has been charged in connection with a violent attack in a pub which left a man fighting for his life.

David Slaven, 32, of Coxwold Drive, in Darlington, has tonight been charged with causing grievous bodily harm with intent and is due to appear at Darlington Magistrates’ Court tomorrow morning.

The attack happened just after 11pm on Monday at The William Stead pub, in Crown Street, Darlington and left the victim, Mark Drummond, with multiple fractures to his face and a bleed on his brain.

He is tonight in a stable condition at James Cook University Hospital, in Middlesbrough.

Police are still searching for a second man believed to have been involved in the assault.
