POLICE are investigating claims that BBC TV star Jimmy Savile assaulted a girl in North Yorkshire in the 1980s.

A spokesman for North Yorkshire Police said the force had received an allegation linked to Scarborough.

The report was made to police yesterday and the spokesman said: "The offence involving a young girl is alleged to have taken place in Scarborough in the late-1980s.

"This is the first report received by the force in connection with the enquiry and it has been referred to the Metropolitan Police Service who are co-ordinating the investigation."

It is understood the victim was not local to the area.

How many more people are going to come forward now....? what good is going to come of it all, while i don't condone his "alleged" behaviour, why did no-one speak out at the time or at least while he was still alive to defend the allegations.

People will just point the finger and say thats her, Jimmy Savile did such and such to her. These people have kept it quiet for so long surely it is in their interests to remain silent and protect their name. The man is dead.

I don't think anyone would condone that type of behaviour.. It's a question of what's true.. What astounds me is anybody who claims to have been assaulted is automatically believed without a shred of evidence.. It's pure trial by media and mob rule.. ..Compensation sounds strongly like the motivation behind most of these claims.. Simply because he's not here to defend his estate.. I'll bet It won't be long before compensation's mentioned, as that's what it's all about...Money

Lets be honest here, we all knew Jim was a bit strange, but never knew why.
I must admit i thought he was gay, but also wondered why the Royals loved him so much, to which he was always evasive when you asked about them, always pretending to be Mr no comment, (was this a cover to put the scent off him)
I Won't lie, i never had him down as a pervert.
