THE Duke of Cambridge has cancelled a planned visit to Teesside - although the Duchess will still attend.

William and Kate had both been due to visit Stockton on Wednesday as part of a tour of the North-East.

But William will not visit the area as he is to attend the funeral of he and his brother’s Prince Harry’s nanny Olga Powell.

A spokesman for the Duke said: “Given the significant role that Mrs Powell played in the princes’ lives, the Duke wishes to pay his respects in person.”

The Duchess of Cambridge will still conduct the North-East visit, including a trip to CRI Stockton Recovery Service.

The centre, which supports people aged 18 and over who are using drugs, is a partner of Action on Addiction of which Kate is a patron.

Before coming to Stockton, she will also visit the Newcastle Civic Centre, followed by Elswick Park in Newcastle and charity Keyfund at Gateshead Youth Council, in Gateshead.
