BIT OF A DO: The St Teresa’s Hospice charity ball at Hardwick Hall Hotel BIT OF A DO: The St Teresa’s Hospice charity ball at Hardwick Hall Hotel

HUNDREDS of people from across the region danced the night away to raise money for a North-East hospice.

About 270 people attended the 16th annual St Teresa’s Hospice charity ball, held at Hardwick Hal Hotell, near Sedgefield, County Durham, raising more than £10,000 for the Darlington-based charity.

As part of the Around the World in 80 Days theme, guests were treated to an Asian and oriental banquet.

Jane Bradshaw, director of the hospice, said: “It was a wonderful evening and Hardwick Hall really did us proud. Local businesses really helped us by donating lots of wonderful prizes, including travel vouchers and holidays.”

Guests were entertained by Paprika, a cabaret act from the Baltic, before dancing the night away to the Dean Solomon Band.

To help raise funds on the evening an everybody-wins raffle was held for prizes ranging from a fish supper to a holiday, all donated by businesses and individuals around the region.
