A MAN who shot a video of a sheep with an upside down head which has been viewed by more than 233,000 people in a week has insisted it is genuine.

The video on Youtube, shot by Allan McNamara, of Eston, Middlesbrough, shows the the animal, called Terry, strolling around in a field, casually grazing on grass despite its deformity.

After being beseiged by viewers questioning if the video was genuine, the 30-year-old computer technician posted a series of photos on the Imgur website to show the animal in more detail.

He said the original sound on the video was of a very poor quality due to the high winds, so he replaced it with classical music.

Mr McNamara declined to say where the video had been shot and said the animal may have been born with twisted spine and had been checked by a vet to ensure that it was in no pain.

He said: “I went to help a friend with a horse and when she showed the sheep to me I was pretty amazed by it. It was nice to see it walking around with other sheep acting normally.

“I never expected something so small to take off like wildfire. I have had to disable my email as it was going crazy.”

The sheep most probably has torticollis or wryneck, which causes the head to tilt and twist to one side. It's quite common in animals especially domesticated ones like Rabbits and Dogs, and can caused by inner ear infection or injury.

Head on upside down and content with grazing, sounds like a ideal candidate for Darlington Borough Council.
