MAIN MAN: Paralypian Stephen Miller with PE students at Sedgefield Community College
SPORTY students at a North-East school were left inspired after a talk from a Paralympic star.
Three-times gold medallist Stephen Miller, who also competed at this year’s Paralympic Games in the club throw, gave a talk to about 50 year ten pupils at Sedgefield Community College yesterday.
PE teacher Tom Urwin said the school had won the chance to meet a sports star after raising £1,400 for Cancer Research in a Gold Challenge Olympic event.
“Due to the Paralympics, we chose Stephen and he was great,” said Mr Urwin. “He was really inspirational and they all really enjoyed it.
“He talked about his career and how he believes in hard work and not luck. What was clear was his sense of humour and his commitment to his sport.
“I think the students gained a lot from him.”
