DUNCAN Bannatyne is set to be released from hospital in Darlington later today after tests showed he did not suffer a heart attack yesterday.

The 63-year-old businessman and television star was admitted to the town’s Memorial Hospital yesterday morning after suffering chest pains while at his company’s headquarters in Haughton Road, Darlington.

A spokesperson for him said this morning: “Everyone at the company is relieved that tests have confirmed Duncan’s health scare was not a heart attack and he will be discharged from hospital later today.

"He is now to spend a few days recuperating from his chest pains away from the stresses of his busy life.

"He has asked us to thank the many hundreds of people who have contacted him to express their good wishes and support and to thank the dedicated staff at Darlington Memorial Hospital for the kindness and care.”

Shock, horror, "Man who appears on television occasionally doesn't feel very well !" Front page news ? I hardly think so.

Duncan is an asset for our town, he has created jobs and given the area a connection with TV. That's great and long may he do so!
