Catterick-based soldier charged with sexual assault

A SOLDIER has been charged with sexual assault following an attack on a teenage girl.

Trevor Anthony Clark, 20, a serving soldier at Catterick Garrison, North Yorkshire, was arrested by police investigating the assault which took place in the early hours of Sunday, August 19, in East Sussex.

The 18-year old victim was attacked by a man in New Park Avenue, in Bexhill, while walking from Bexhill Railway Station at about 3.40am She was pushed to the ground, but when she screamed nearby residents were disturbed and the assailant ran away.

Mr Clark had been staying at an address in Buckhurst Road, Bexhill.

He appeared at Hastings Magistrates' Court on Monday charged with sexual assault and causing actual bodily harm.

The defendant was remanded in custody to appear at the same court on September 4.
