FFION Hague, the wife of Richmond MP and Foreign Secretary William Hague, has successfully completed her abseil down the side of The Shard, London's new skyscraper.

This morning, Mrs Hague joined Prince Andrew and mountaineer Chris Bonnington in a team of people who descended from the top of Europe's tallest building to raise money for the Outward Bound Trust and the Royal Marines Charitable Trust Fund.

Mrs Hague and her fellow abseilers are hoping to raise a £1m through sponsorship of their efforts for the Outward Bound Trust, a charity which provides challenges through adventure for young people. Mrs Hague is deputy chairman of the trust.

So far, Mrs Hague has managed to raise more than £124,000. Donations can be made at https://mydonate.bt.com/fundraisers/ffionhague
