Darlington woman killed as she falls from bike as bus passes

TRIBUTES have been paid to a woman who died after falling from her bike as a bus went past.

Natasha Beverley, 21, originally from Darlington, was killed as she cycled alongside the A193 Church Bank east bound carriageway in Wallsend, Newcastle, on Wednesday afternoon.

Miss Beverley, who was engaged and has a baby son, died from her injuries after falling on the pavement.

Last night, a Facebook group for friends and loved ones to pay their respects was set up.

Shaz Sibley said: “R.I.P.

Tasha. No words can take away what your family must be going through.

“Absolutely lovely girl, no bad in you at all, and a lovely mum. You’ll never be forgotten.

Sleep tight angel.

Xxxxxx”

It is understood Miss Beverley had been living in the North Tyneside area.

Mellissa Bonner said: “R.I.P Tasha, such a tragedy. You were a wonderful young woman and fantastic mummy.

My thoughts go out to all of the Beverley family her fiance, and her beautiful baby boy. Tasha will live on through her beautiful boy.

Heaven just got another angel.”

The accident happened in the Rosehill area of Wallsend, close to the A193 junction with Ropery Lane, at 3.45pm, and Miss Beverley was taken to the Royal Victoria Infirmary, in Newcastle, for treatment to serious injuries. She died overnight.

The road was closed for about four hours to allow for investigation to take place.

A Northumbria Police spokesman said: “At this stage, it’s believed the cyclist was riding her bike on the pavement and fell off on to the pavement in the direction of the road just as a single-decker bus was passing.

“Police are trying to establish exactly what happened.”

Officers are appealing for witnesses to contact them.

They would like to speak to any passengers on the Go North East number one coast bus who were on the bus between Wallsend High Street and Rosehill Social Club.
