A 76-year-old lady was left with a broken arm after an attempted robbery.
The pensioner was walking home with her husband last night in Stockton when a man crossed the road and approached the couple from behind and grabbed her bag.
"She clung on to it and fell to the ground, breaking her right arm," said a Cleveland Police spokeswoman.
The couple had left Elm Tree Social Club on Bishopton Road West, at around 11pm.
The man, who came from the direction of Rimswell Road, struck as they reached the junction of Bishopton Road West and Fairfield Road.
He said nothing and fled empty handed - running across Fairfield Road, and down Glenfield Road before disappearing from sight.
The man is described as white, 5’8” to 5’9” tall and of slim build. He was wearing a black hoodie with the hood up, dark bottoms and dark trainers.
Police have carried out house to house enquiries and leaflet drops in the area but they would still like to hear from anyone who may have information.
Please contact DC Richie Brocklesby of Stockton CID on the non-emergency number 101, or call the independent charity Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
