RAF team complete epic charity run

A TEAM of hardy fund-raisers have completed a gruelling charity run.

The team from RAF Leeming covered the equivalent of three-and-a-half marathons in just three-and-a-half days - and totla of 91 miles.

Personnel from the base’s Logistics Squadron overcame wet and windy weather, uneven tracks and undulating ground when they ran the length of Hadrian’s Wall for Barnardos.

Starting at Bowness-on-Solway and finishing at North Shields, the nine man team all trained hard to build up their endurance levels for the challenge, covering many miles in training runs and attending numerous gym sessions.

But they were still surprised by the physical effects and the amount of discomfort the challenge presented.

Organiser Sergeant John Plummer said: "This has been the hardest thing I have ever done, both mentally and physically. It’s amazing how much pain and stress you can put your body through and it will still keep going".

The team raised over £3,000 and the money is still coming in.
