Pensioner, 85, injured after mobility scooter and car collide in Darlington

AN ELDERLY man suffered a fractured leg and a head wound after his mobility scooter was in collision with a car in Darlington.

The accident happened on Woodland Road at around 3.30pm today and involved a MINI car. The car driver, a woman in her 50s from Bishop Auckland, was unhurt. The man was taken to hospital nearby.

A police spokesman said the man had been crossing the road when the collision happened. He said the woman was assisting officers with their investigation.

Witnesses are asked to call the road policing unit on 0191-3752159 or the police’s non emergency line, 101.

I must admit, the light at which the accident happened are a bit dodge. The amber light stays flashing too long and maybe the pensioner/road user got confused.
