Oak tree crashes onto two houses in Coulby Newham

HOUSEHOLDERS had a lucky escape last night after a large oak tree fell onto two houses, causing severe damage.

The tree crashed down on Paddock Wood, Coulby Newham, Middlesbrough, just after 7.30pm.

Two houses were affected, with one having its garage containing a car completely destroyed and serious damage caused to the back of the house.

No-one was in at the time. Fire fighters from Coulby Newham were called to the scene.

Watch manager Richie Burnicle said the reason for the trees fall was not yet known.

"If anyone had been in the garage or the back garden at the time, they wouldn't have stood a chance," he said.
