PREPARATIONS for a party with a difference to celebrate the Queen's Diamond Jubilee next month are firmly on track.

Officials at Herriot Hospice Homecare, which supports patients with life-limiting illness in the Hambleton and Richmondshire areas, said they hope its Jubilee Express event on the Wensleydale Railway attracts strong interest from heritage train enthusiasts as well as fans of the royal family.

Tickets are now on sale for the event on Friday, June 1, which includes the return fare from Leeming Bar to the end of the line at Redmire, beer tasting en route with Hambleton Ales, a trackside Dales hog roast at Redmire, ice cream, individual guest party packs, an on-board bar and live music.

A hospice spokeswoman said: "We hope will be a summer evening trip to remember with entertainment, food and music on the trip through beautiful scenery." Tickets cost £25 from 01609-777413 or visit herriothh.org.uk.
