Three car crash closes A66 near Stockton

MOTORISTS are being urged to avoid the A66 on Teesside after a passenger died in a three-car crash.

The collision happened at 10.30pm on the eastbound carriageway between the junctions for Durham Tees Valley Airport, and Elton, near Stockton.

It involved a Renault Clio, a black Honda Civic and a Citroen Picasso.

Cleveland Police said a male passenger in the Clio died at the scene.

Officers have closed the road in both directions and are advising motorists to avoid the area.

Any witnesses are asked to call the Cleveland and Durham specialist operations unit on 101.
