A JOINT exhibition at the Chantry House Gallery in Ripley, near Harrogate, sees David Howell back with a range of work covering marine subjects, landscape, horse racing pictures, shooting, life work and anything else that takes his fancy, along with a new collection of evocative scenes by James Naughton, who captures the Yorkshire landscape in a contemporary style that has a traditional feeling.
Also showing are portrait artists Fiona Scott, who has exhibited in London galleries, including the National Portrait Gallery, and Jo Stockdale, whose passion for her work comes from the connection between animal and handler, whether in equestrian sports or with dogs and hounds.
The gallery is also showing work by newcomer Caroline Appleyard, whose naïve, bright and fun paintings capture her love of travelling and diving, and Chris Mouncey, who is exhibiting landscape and seascape watercolours inspired by the effects of light and changing weather.
The exhibition opens tomorrow and runs until Sunday, May 27. Opening times are Wednesday to Saturday, 11am-5pm, and Sunday, noon-5pm.
