A NORTHALLERTON florist is backing a campaign to encourage more men to buy flowers for their wives, girlfriends and loved ones.
Hutton Flowers, in the town’s Barkers Arcade, is supporting the campaign, which has been launched by one of its suppliers, The Flower Bank, in Cumbria.
A recent survey suggested a majority of British men had never walked into a florist’s shop, with the suggestion that flowers were perceived as “not manly”.
A spokesman for Hutton Flowers said: “We are backing this campaign.
“Real men buy flowers and tomorrow we are having a moving window display, with men from a variety of professions sitting in the window for half-hour slots, with specially designed floral arrangements to try to help encourage men not to be embarrassed about walking into a florist shop and choosing flowers as gifts.”
