A BIKE hire charity in Darlington has launched a competition to promote cycling. The challenge is to design a logo for a hooded top for Darlovelo, which runs a bicycle sharing scheme.

The prize in the 11-15 age category is a bike. The winner of the 16 and over category will receive three months’ free bike hire.

Annie Ravazzolo, promotions officer, said the idea was to encourage people to think about cycling as a mode of everyday transport that did not need specialist clothing.

“We want people to feel confident and safe on their bikes and not feel self-conscious once they have reached their destination.

We believe the hoodie is versatile enough to do this.”

Closing date for entries is Monday, February 14. Winners will be announced in March. For an entry form, visit darlovelo.org.
